    Car Tune-Ups in El Paso

At Mobile Mechanic Pros of El Paso, we believe that regular tune-ups are essential to protect your investment and keep your car running smoothly. Not only do they help maintain peak performance and fuel efficiency, but they can also prevent more costly repairs down the line.

When we perform a tune-up, we check and replace various components as needed, and we often run diagnostic tests to identify any adjustments that can help your engine run at its best. While you can schedule a tune-up anytime, it’s a good idea to follow the manufacturer’s recommended schedule. Trust us—keeping up with your tune-ups means fewer phone calls to us for expensive repairs!

    Ignition System

The ignition system is a critical part of your engine and can lead to more problems than you might expect. Even though modern cars use computerized controls, some components might still need attention during a tune-up.

    Spark Plugs

Spark plugs are responsible for igniting the fuel in your engine. Over time, the small metal tip can wear down due to heat and pressure. If the gap becomes too large, the spark plug may not ignite the fuel properly, leading to what you’d recognize as a misfire. When we replace spark plugs during a tune-up, we always recommend using original equipment that matches your manufacturer’s specifications.

    Ignition Wires

These wires can degrade over time, leading to issues with the connection between the spark plug and the ignition coil. If a connection fails, it can result in a cylinder not firing. We recommend replacing ignition wires in sets to ensure they’re all the same gauge and properly configured. If they’re crossed, your engine may run, but it will sound rough as it tries to spark out of sync.

Distributor Cap & Rotor (if applicable)

Inside the distributor cap, a rotating arm makes contact with metal points to send sparks to the spark plugs. Over time, these contacts can wear out, leading to inconsistent firing. During a tune-up, we suggest replacing both the cap and rotor together to ensure they work perfectly.

    Filters

Your engine has several filters that keep contaminants out and help maintain performance. When these filters get clogged, they can impact how well your car runs.

    Air Filters

As your car runs, it constantly pulls in air, and over time, the air filter can get clogged with dust and debris. A dirty air filter can reduce your fuel efficiency by up to 14% in carbureted engines and can hurt performance in all vehicles. Even if you have a fuel-injected engine, a clean air filter is still crucial for optimal performance.

    Oil Filter

The oil filter keeps your engine oil clean by filtering out particles that can cause wear. If it gets clogged, contaminants can circulate, leading to potential engine damage. We recommend changing the oil filter with every oil change to keep everything running smoothly.

    PCV Valve

The positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve can become clogged with carbon over time, which can lead to excessive oil consumption and an imbalanced air-to-fuel ratio.

    Belts

Your engine has several belts that perform various functions. Over time, these can stretch or wear out, especially in the dry heat of El Paso. During a full engine tune-up, we’ll inspect these belts to ensure they’re in good shape and replace any that show signs of wear.

    Fluids

We check all fluid levels during a tune-up and change or top them up as needed. Some fluids may also need to be replaced when we work on different components of your car.

    Battery

Here’s something for our El Paso locals to keep in mind: the extreme heat can take a toll on your car battery, often shortening its lifespan to about two years. When you buy a new battery, look for one with a 3 to 5-year warranty, because trust us, it’s not a matter of if it will die, but when!

If you’re in El Paso and it’s time for a tune-up, give us a call at Mobile Mechanic Pros of El Paso! We’re here to help keep your car in top shape so you can hit the road with confidence.
